When NestJS is the right backend for your PHP application.
NestJS suits API-heavy systems, integrations and services. Modules move one at a time while the legacy application keeps serving.
Usually a good fit
- API-heavy applications
Mobile apps, partners and internal services depend on it. - Many integrations
Payments, ERPs, webhooks and third-party APIs. - Queues and events
Work that should not block a request. - TypeScript teams
One language across front end and back end.
Usually a better fit elsewhere
- Admin-heavy CRUD with little API
Django gives more out of the box. - Content sites
Astro is the better fit. - Teams with no TypeScript experience
DI and async add a learning curve.
Concern by concern.
Typical patterns only. Your Assessment Report replaces these generalisations with findings from your own code. Business rules, data and integrations are kept and proven with parity tests.

Do we have to move everything at once?
No. A routing layer sits in front of the PHP application and endpoints move module by module.
Is Node.js fast enough for our workload?
For APIs and integrations, usually yes. CPU-heavy work is designed separately and named in the Assessment Report.
Who maintains it afterwards?
Your team, after a documented handover. Ownership terms are in the Migration Contract.
